RESPITE CARE

A service in which individuals with various needs (including individuals of all ages, physical conditions and cognitive abilities) are cared for offering family caregivers temporary relief. An essential part of an overall home care support strategy, respite care is offered in an individual’s home or in a variety of out-of-home settings for any length of time depending on the needs of the family. As a vital part of the continuum of services for families, Maxicare Respite Care help reduce family stress, thereby helping preserve the family unit, supporting family stability and preventing lengthy and costly out-of-home care.

  • Adult Respite - Help ease stress on family members and primary caregivers by providing oversight and care to the dependent person in your home. With a competent, reliable service provider on hand, caregivers can feel free to leave for a specified period to attend to their own needs or those of your family.
  • Alzheimer’s RespiteCare - Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease can be overwhelmingly time-consuming, physically and emotionally-draining. Time off for the primary caregiver is frequently needed to prevent burnout and relieve stress. Alzheimer's Respite Care services provide the primary caregiver with a break from their duties. Maxicare understands that caregivers occasionally need a little time for themselves to address their own personal interests and relationships, take vacations or business trips, or simply have the opportunity to rest and renew the spirit.
  • Hospital Support - Provided by nurses who offer support, sits with you and will keep family members up to date with information as desired during some portion of your hospital stay.
  • Overnight - Maxicare offers overnight care and support to give you a worry-free night’s sleep, knowing that support and assistance are available when needed throughout the night. Services include assistance to go to bed, including toileting, catheter care, personal hygiene and skin care. Direct support professionals are awake all night and available to assist with after bedtime transfers, toileting and redirection of confused, agitated or wandering behaviors. Depending on the certification or licensing of the caregiver, duties may include administering medication dosages, changing wound dressings or engaging in other skilled tasks.
  • New Baby - Although a bundle of joy, a newborn can be a handful. Sometimes a little extra help around the house in the first few weeks after birth can ease the transition. We offer a full range of support services to new parents and their babies, including bathing, diapering, feeding, sitting or just providing you with time to attend to other tasks.
